CGFO Reciprocity Program

The GFOA and FGFOA are excited to announce the launch of the CGFO/CPFO Reciprocity Program!
This program allows individuals who hold the Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) designation to earn the Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) credential, and vice versa, with special benefits and reduced requirements. This agreement gives all current CGFOs credit for passing 3 of the CPFO exams, which means that you would only need to pass four of their exams to earn your CPFO designation.

What is the CGFO/CPFO Reciprocity Program?
The CGFO/CPFO Reciprocity Program recognizes the expertise associated with these two prestigious certifications. It offers a pathway for individuals who hold one of these certifications to earn the other designation with allowances to reduce redundancy.
Applicants will need to complete an application, which includes submitting relevant professional and educational documentation, as well as paying any applicable fees. Once the application is reviewed, candidates will be notified of the approval and additional steps required.
Taking Advantage of this Opportunity Allows You To:
- Broaden Your Professional Network: Having both certifications opens up new opportunities for professional development and networking with other government finance professionals.
- Increase Career Flexibility: With a dual certification, you enhance your qualifications for roles in various government and public sector organizations across different jurisdictions.
- Streamline the Certification Process: Save time and resources by avoiding duplicate efforts while earning additional credentials that demonstrate your professional expertise.
