Justice Administrative Commission
Alton L. “Rip” Colvin, Jr. began his tenure as the Justice Administrative Commission’s Executive Director on July 19, 2010. In his current position, Mr. Colvin heads up a state agency with 85 staff and a budget of over $91 million, providing administrative services to 49 judicial branch related entities in the areas of Accounting, Budget, Financial Services, and Human Resources. The agency also provides compliance and financial review of billings for services provided by private court-appointed attorneys representing indigent citizens and associated due process vendors. Mr. Colvin previously worked with the Florida Legislature for 18 years, including five years as the Executive Director of the Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations, ten years as a Legislative Analyst with the Legislative Auditing Committee, and over two years as an auditor with the Office of the Auditor General. He has been a member of the Florida Government Finance Officers Association for over 21 years, serving as chair of the Small Government Committee for two terms, and also participated as an active member of several committees. He is both a Certified Public Accountant (1994) and Florida Certified Government Finance Officer (1999), and earned his designation as a Certified Public Manager (2014). He and his wife, Teresa, are parents to their son, Andrew.
