City of Largo
Kim has been the Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer for the City of Largo, Florida since February 1987. Largo is a full-service city located in Tampa Bay with a $125 million budget and 850 employees. Largo has received the GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report since 1990 and has also held the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for over 25 years.
Kim became a Florida CPA in 1981. He earned a BA in Business Administration in 1980 and a Masters in Accountancy in 2012 both from the University of South Florida. He also earned an MBA from Colorado State University in 2001. Prior to joining Largo, he was an accountant and external auditor for seven years with two CPA firms in Pinellas County.
He is a member of the AICPA, GFOA, FGFOA and was the first president of the FGFOA Gulf Coast Chapter. He has served on and chaired several FGFOA committees and has been a speaker at GFOA, FGFOA and FCCMA seminars. In 2004, he was selected as the first Florida League of Cities Municipal Finance Official of the Year and has been a part-time adjunct instructor of accounting at USF, St. Petersburg, since 2009.
Kim and Bonnie were married in 1990 and have two daughters and one grandson. Kim is active in his church and has served as Congregation President three times over the past 25 years. He enjoys tennis and occasional SCUBA diving.
